According to wife Ruby, he was an orphaned teenager farmed out of the Monroe Harding Orphanage to help work farms when she met him.
In 1930 Census, he was a sprayer in an enamel plant.
Died of a ruptured aneurism.

Barnes, Albert Carl - Age 77 years, July 5, 1985. Survived by wife, Mrs. Ruby Irene Hewgley Barnes; daughter, Mrs. Ann Barnes DeJarnatt; son-in-law, Eddie Frank DeJarnatt, Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Mark Allen and Kimberly ann DeJarnatt; one sister, Mrs. Herbert McPherson, St. Petersburg, Fla; brother, Roy Harrison Barnes, Brazil, Ind. Remains are at Buena Vista Funeral Home, Inc., 3634 Clarksville Highway, where services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. conducted by Bro. John Parker. Active Pallbearers: Danny, Jerry and Eddie Graves, mark Lovall, Don Freudenthall, Bill Pentecost. Interment North Woodlawn Cemetery.
